Working with revolutionary fermentation and purification procedures, the PERCAL consortium is ‘brewing’ bioproducts with the exact purity, quality and produce as existing commercial solutions. As a result, the undertaking is developing different and a lot more sustainable sources of normal feedstock for the chemical market. The manufacturing method is made to enhance existing bioethanol manufacturing from MSW by way of IMECAL’s patented PERSEO Bioethanol® technological innovation, which is presently deployed at the PERSEO Biorefinery demonstration plant in Alcúdia, Spain.

‘Among the most important achievements has been enabling the fermentation of up to 85 % of probable fermentable sugars contained in heterogeneous organic and natural MSW, developing lactic acid with a lot more than 90 % purity and succinic acid with a lot more than 99 % purity,’ Coll Lozano provides. ‘By the end of the undertaking, we expect to have demonstrated the protection, regulatory compliance and environmental and economic sustainability of the procedures and solutions, enabling us to consider how our technologies and procedures will carry out on a commercial scale.’
